Dallas Teen Sentenced in Relatives’ Deaths

DALLAS (AP) _ A 13-year-old Dallas-area girl has received a 20-year sentence after pleading guilty to capital murder for her role in the shooting deaths of her relatives.

The girl pleaded guilty Monday in Dallas County juvenile court. The Dallas Morning News reports that her 13-year-old boyfriend and accomplice was sentenced to 28 years earlier this year. Both must serve at least 10 years.

Police say the boy shot 46-year-old Darlene Nevil in the back and head at the woman’s Garland home in August. He then shot Alan Nevil four times. Alan Nevil escaped the home and lived for 16 days. He implicated the youths before he died.

The Texas Youth Commission will have custody of the girl until she’s 18. She was 12 at the time of the shooting.
