CVB Declines Additional Funding from Bryan Council

The Convention and Visitors Bureau is declining $96,000 dollars in additional funding from the city of Bryan.

CVB president Shannon Overby sent an e-mail asking to keep the original funding request of $238,000 dollars.

Overby tells WTAW News “we want to make sure we do our due diligence and just don’t take extra money just to have extra money and just to spend it. We want to make sure that we collaborate with our partners and with our sales team and make sure that we identify the right areas in which to market and use those extra funds.”

Overby’s e-mail to the city stated in part “should the council be interested in investing more money in our marketing efforts, the BCSCVB would be more than willing to bring forward and present an amended marketing plan and budget to the council for their information at a later date.”

The city council, which voted 4-3 last month for more CVB money, takes action on the agency’s contract during Tuesday’s meeting.
