A Hearne man convicted of an armed robbery at a College Station apartment on Christmas Eve in 2009 is back in jail.

College Station police arrested 24 year old Daniel Cooks Wednesday for stalking his ex-girlfriend.

That’s after the woman reported being followed the last two days by Cooks.

According to the arrest report, on Wednesday Cooks got out of his vehicle while traffic was stopped at University and Wellborn, walked up to the woman’s car, and pounded the windows and yelled at her. After traffic started moving again, Cooks is also accused of rear-ending the woman’s car and she feared he was going to kill her.

On Tuesday, the woman reported Cooks followed her to her home in Burleson County and he sent her several text messages. One stated “If not I have no choice then to keep getting your attention one way or another”, followed by one stating “Your day is coming and that’s not a threat”.

Online court records stated Cooks received a three year sentence for the 2009 robbery.

On Wednesday 04/01/15 at 1620 hours, the College Station Police Department responded to the area of University and S. College for a report of stalking that had just occurred. Upon arrival, CSPD Officers found that the suspect had begun following the victim from her place of employment to Applebee’s.

After she left Applebee’s, the victim stopped in the roadway due to traffic. The suspect approached her vehicle and began beating on the window and yelling at her. After traffic started moving, the suspect bumped her vehicle with his vehicle and continued to follow her till he was contacted by police.

Further investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had a previous dating relationship and that there had been prior incidents which amounted to stalking because the events caused the victim to feel harassed, annoyed, alarmed, abused, tormented, embarrassed, or offended.

The victim reported a similar occurrence the day before in Burleson County where the suspect had been contacted by law enforcement and told previously to refrain from following her or contacting her. The victim was not injured during today’s events.

Arrested and charged with Stalking:
Daniel Dwayne Cooks
24 year old male, resident of Hearne
