The longest tenured volunteer at the College Station Police Department is now in the American Police Hall of Fame.

Chaplain, Dr. Peter Tarlow received the Civilian Medal of Appreciation for his work with departments across the country in the area of tourism safety.

“It indicates that together that civilians and police officers are trying to make sure our country is safe,” said Dr. Tarlow.

Dr. Tarlow, who has been with the department for more than 25 years, said today’s police officers do more than hand out traffic tickets, they are the front line of America’s security.

In addition to his duties as chaplain, Dr. Tarlow helped create the College Station Tourism and Entertainment Police unit in 2013, which patrols the entertainment and tourism sections of the city predominately on bicycles.

According to CSPD, he is an accomplished author, keynote speaker and instructor on terrorism, safety and preparedness as it relates to large scale events and tourism venues.
