College Station Police Arrests In Cases Involving Trespassing On A New Car Lot, Vehicle Burglaries And Thefts, And A House Being Struck By A SUV

At least three College Station police officers respond Sunday (October 6) at four in the morning to a man entering vehicles at a new car dealer. Security at College Station Ford called CSPD to report watching on their video system, a man entering vehicles. 37 year old Bradley Dean Smith of Bryan was arrested for evading officers and criminal trespassing. At the time Smith was taken to jail for the 15th time in 17 years, he was out on bond awaiting trial on a charge of family violence assault with a prior conviction. As of October 7, Smith remains jailed in lieu of bonds on the new charges totaling $6,000 dollars. College Station police make an arrest on six charges related to vehicle burglaries and thefts during the last week of September in two neighborhoods. 18 year old Treshawn Booker told officers according to CSPD arrest reports he broke into at least ten vehicles in the Barracks subdivision, stealing a SUV, and eluding an officer. Booker also said that two days later, he broke into a vehicle located in Creek Meadows and took a handgun. The following day, Booker…whose hometown was not listed in jail records…was arrested in Houston for unlawful carrying of a weapon that happened to be the gun that was reported stolen in Creek Meadows. The arrest reports do not say how many of the burglaries involved locked vehicles. Booker, who was transported to the Brazos County jail on September 29th, remains jailed as of October 7th in lieu of bonds totaling $71,000 dollars. College Station police responding last Wednesday (October 2) to the report of a SUV striking a house arrested the driver for DWI. A witness told officers according to the CSPD arrest report they saw the SUV swerve so severely that other drivers had to avoid being hit. Then the SUV struck multiple trash cans and a mailbox before hitting the residence on Nimitz. The driver who was taken to jail, 47 year old Felicia Glover of College Station, failed field sobriety tests and told officers she had drank wine and taken a prescription sleeping pill prior to driving. The arrest report did not say if anyone was inside the home or give the extent of damage to the home. Glover is out of jail after posting a $2,000 dollar bond.

College Station City Council Approves A Staff Request To Pursue A $3.6 Million Dollar Housing Grant

The College Station city council approves pursuing a $3.6 million dollar federal housing grant. Raney Whitwell in the city’s community development office told the council the money, if awarded, could go towards three types of expenses. The city could buy homes, repair them, and sell them to either qualified income residents or to a non-profit that would rent them to those who meet income requirements. Another use, if awarded, would create affordable housing by increasing housing density. Federal money could also pay for a comprehensive housing capacity study. Arrests For Ramming A Pickup Truck Into A Spouse’s Car And For Grabbing The Throat Of A Brazos County Detention Officer

A Bryan man is arrested for domestic violence related aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…with the weapon being his pickup truck. The Bryan police arrest report says last Thursday night (October 3), 35 year old Luis Mata drove his full size truck into his wife’s compact car near the intersection of Turkey Creek and Finfeather Roads. The arrest report says the injuries the victim received were before the collision, where Mata is accused of punching and violently grabbing her. Mata was also charged with interfering with officers by refusing to stop talking while officers were trying to get the victim’s statement. Mata is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $32,000 dollars. A Bryan woman in jail since June 19th on a charge of assaulting an EMS employee is now accused of grabbing the throat of a detention officer and applying pressure. The arrest report from the Brazos County sheriff’s office from Monday’s incident says after a supervisor and other officers placed the inmate in handcuffs, the inmate struck, scratched, and attempted to bite multiple officers. Online court records shows 34 year old Charlene Jones is awaiting trials in the June assault and charges from a May 12th incident involving felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor obstruction of a highway. Jones is held on bonds totaling $16,000 dollars.
