College Station school board members have meetings on Monday and Tuesday. A common topic is the November bond issue.
The CSISD trustees first meeting is Monday afternoon at four at the central office. In addition to resuming discussion on what might be included in the bond issue, trustees will also consider establishing a new health and wellness program. An employee committee has recommended a contract with Aerofit Health and Fitness for one year with the option of two-one year extensions. 11 vendors were contacted and seven submitted a proposal.
Tuesday evening at six, trustees meet with the city council at the district’s transportation center on Rock Prairie Road. The bond issue is one of three items on the agenda where action could be taken. Last month, council members and school administrators discussed a new natatorium. Also up for consideration is the sale of the College Station Conference Center to the school district. The city closed the center in July 2012 due to structural issues and the district has the right of first refusal to acquire the property. And trustees will act on joint agreements regarding school resource officers and Kids Klub.
In addition to the natatorium, CSISD voters could be asked to approve a bond issue building a ninth elementary school, expanding Timber Academy into a Center of Alternative Learning, more renovations at Consolidated High School, relocating support services, deferred maintenance, renovating operations, safety and technology upgrades, and purchasing buses and vehicles.
