CSISD Revenue Plan Draws Interest from CS Council

The College Station City Council is interested in the local school district’s idea of selling advertising.

Councilwoman Katy-Marie Lyles wondered during their last meeting about complying with local ordinances. It was something that drew comments from now-retired City Manager Glenn Brown and Mayor Nancy Berry.

School district spokesman Chuck Glenewinkel says up to $4,000 a month could be generated from placing ads on buses. The district would control content and the ads will be placed only on the exterior of the bus.

The CSISD Board of Trustees is preparing a request for proposals from businesses interested in selling ads not only on buses but the district’s website and potentially its athletic stadiums.
