CSISD Board Meeting Recap

The College Station school board wants the legislature to do something that won’t cost the state any money but will make life better for everyone in public education. Board member Jeff Harris was among those calling to let the school year start five days sooner. Tuesday’s comments came as the board approved next year’s calendar, which received district-wide support by a margin of nearly 2-1.

CSISD officials say the guaranteed maximum price (GMP is $3,896,000 and the total project budget is $4,618,720. The GMP was determined through competitive-sealed proposal bid process and the proposed project budget is $13,474 below the planning amount.  The funds for the upgrades were approved by College Station ISD voters in a May 2009 bond election. Phase II renovations will include a redesigned and renovated media center, relocated stairs to improve traffic flow, student commons area located at the front entrance, upgrades to the auditorium and lecture hall, electrical upgrades to the oldest portion of the building, and heating/air conditioning upgrades to the older gymnasium.
