The agenda for Tuesday’s College Station school board meeting includes action on more pieces of last November’s bond issue. That includes a budget of almost $380,000 dollars to demolish the College Station Conference Center. On that land will be the district’s new center for alternative learning. Another $250,000 will go towards replacing the roof over the kindergarten wing at South Knoll Elementary.
In other business, the CSISD board will consider hiring a new human resources director. Monica James has spent the last 15 years running H-R for the Manor and Round Rock districts. The College Station opening was created with the promotion of Clark Ealy to superintendent and duties reassigned to the district’s remaining deputy superintendents.
Monday night, the Bryan school board hired two new central office administrators. The new special education director is Cathy Burgin, who has spent the last nine years in Klein…and the new director of professional development is Leslie Holtkamp, who has been in Willis the last four years.
The Bryan board also set its last salary schedule under the district’s current format. For 2014-15, first year teachers in Bryan ISD will receive $250 more and those returning will receive an increase of about 1.5 percent. For the 2015-16 school year, the board plans to start a new compensation system that includes merit pay and paying more for teachers in academically high risk schools.
