Thursday update:
A child custody battle in district court is the alleged motive of a College Station woman to hire a hit man.
According to the arrest report, an acquaintance told College Station police Wednesday that 33 year old Nicolette Beard wanted the job done by Friday before their next court appearance.
An undercover College Station detective says Beard had no problem if the man’s wife was injured or killed as well.
Six hours following the initial report, a sting operation began where Beard told the detective, who she thought was the hit man, that she could make an $800 dollar down payment towards the $4,000 murder that was supposed to look like an accident.
The acquaintance kept the seven year old boy away from the negotiations and the payoff which led to Beard’s arrest.
Beard remained in the Brazos County Jail in lieu of bond of $100,000.
