CS Police Investigating Accidental Shooting & Juvenile Arrested For Residential Burglary

News release of accidental shooting courtesy of College Station police:

On May 9, 2015 at approximately 1453 hrs the College Station Police Department received information of an individual who had been injured through an accidental discharge of a firearm in the 2600 blk of Harvey Road. Upon arrival at that location the responding officers were able to learn the following information.

A vehicle carrying friends was eastbound on Harvey Road near Earl Rudder Freeway driving to participate in recreational shooting at a local gun range. The driver and the front seat passenger were engaged in conversation about one of the guns they were to shoot that day and when the passenger was attempting to disassemble the firearm it discharged striking the driver.

A passenger immediately contacted 911 and emergency medical personnel and police responded to the scene to provide medical attention and look into the circumstances of the shooting. The injured party was transported to a local medical facility where they are undergoing treatment for their injuries which appear to be non-life threatening at this time. Investigation by officers at the scene found no indication of any criminal intent and further investigation into the matter is on-going at this time.

News release from College Station police of juvenile arrested for residential burglary:

On 05/08/15 officers with the College Station Police Department received a report of a burglary of a habitation in the 600 block of Maryem. It was reported that a firearm was stolen from this residence. Later on in the evening, information was received as to the whereabouts of this firearm and the person responsible for the burglary. An investigation into this incident led to the recovery of the firearm and other miscellaneous property.

A suspect in this incident was identified and arrested. The suspect is a juvenile and no identifying information will be released. The juvenile was charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Theft of a Firearm. Additionally, due to statements made during the investigation, the juvenile was charged with Retaliation.
