A College Station man is in custody after family violence and a car chase Thursday night.

Lieutenant Chuck Fleeger says Paul Mitchell, 38, is accused of punching, threatening with a knife, and strangling his girlfriend in front of her six children, before leading police on a chase that lasted 25 minutes with the children in his SUV.

Fleeger says Mitchell did not speed, but would not pull over until after the officers called him on the phone and convinced him to pull over and speak with police.

Fleeger says the victim was treated at the scene, but did not go to the hospital, and additional charges are possible.
