A College Station man accuses his step-grandfather of throwing gasoline into his face then trying to light him on fire.

Police were sent to the 1100 block of Phoenix Saturday aftenoon, near the Lincoln Recreation Center.

The victim, 26 year old Kelvin Banks, told officers he was visiting his children at the relative’s home when he decided to leave.

Banks says he was on the front steps when he turned around and was sprayed in the face, shoulders, and chest with a large cup of gasoline.

75 year old Monroe Renchie is accused of throwing the fuel then trying to run down Banks with a lighter.

Banks was checked out at his home by medics and Renchie was taken to jail for attempted aggravated assault.
