First Candidate Announcement For The 2026 Election Involves The Congressional Seat Representing Brazos County
The first candidate announcement for the 2026 election in Brazos County is someone running for Congress. Republican Philip Suarez tells WTAW News he is operating his campaign for the 10th congressional district out of Brenham. But Suarez lives in Cypress, which is about 13 miles outside the district. Suarez says his home was in the district before boundaries were changed after the last census. While there is no requirement to live inside the district, Suarez says regardless of how the election comes out he will likely move near family in Brenham in the next two to three years. Michael McCaul, who represents the 10th district, did not have a primary opponent in 2024. The 10th district also includes Burleson, Grimes, Madison, and Washington counties.
