As part of their afternoon workshop meeting Thursday the College Station City Council will hear two different proposals for a potential tree preservation ordinance.
Click to hear WTAW’s Chris Clift talk with Director of Planning and Development Bob Cowell:
City staff is coming before Council to ask for guidance on which plan they are more interested in pursuing.
One plan would focus more on preservation while the other is based on replanting.
Cowell says some members of the local development community have expressed concerns that such an ordinance could raise the cost of new construction.
Council could vote Thursday to give city staff guidance on which plan to pursue, but no ordinance will be passed as part of the workshop meeting presentation.
Cowell says the City Council is at least three to four months away from any potential vote on the issue.
