CS Council Awaits Staff Report on Future of Wind Watts

The wind may be going out of an alternative energy option offered by College Station Utilities.

Mayor Nancy Berry says the city council will receive a staff report later this year of the underperforming Wind Watts service, where customers pay more to receive a portion of their electricity from wind generation.

Berry says one problem might be a portion of Wind Watts bills going towards the city’s tree planting program.  She suggested the option of letting customers choose to make a donation through utility billing.

Berry says Wind Watts has six commercial and 506 residential customers.
