The city will not receive property tax revenues from the annexed area until late in 2012. Any of the approximately 200 residents who are registered voters are eligible to participate in the next municipal election on May 14.
The approved annexation service plan requires the city to provide services comparable to those available in similar parts of College Station. The annexed area will immediately be provided with police and fire protection, emergency medical services, and road and street maintenance. Additional services will include building permitting and inspections, planning and development services, animal control, code enforcement, and economic and community development. If desired, a utility account can be requested immediately following annexation that entitles a new resident to solid waste and recycling collection.
