CS Council Approves Tax Abatement Policy

For the first time in four years, the College Station City Council is revising its economic development policy.

One piece, addressing property tax breaks, was approved at the last council meeting.

Assistant City Manager Frank Simpson says it’s designed for existing employers to expand as well as draw new business.

By state law, tax incentive policies have to be considered every two years. What the council approved can be amended only with a supermajority vote.
