CS Council Approves Pedicab Regulations

pedicab-featDecember 1 starts regulations in College Station on the operation of pedal-pushing cabbies.

Councilman Jess Fields, participating in his last regular meeting, led a unanimous council on dropping two requirements in the police department’s proposal.

Then to Mayor Nancy Berry’s surprise, Fields voted against the modified regulations without any explanation.

 

Debate included whether to set a maximum charge. Julie Schultz says that wasn’t a problem for an operation she visited with. James Benham did not want a cap.

 

After about 30 minutes of discussion, Blanche Brick was ready to move on.

 

The council approved 14 pages of regulations. There is no price cap, and pedicab operators will not be required to return lost property left behind by riders.
