Councilman Dennis Maloney challenged those who will be on a rental housing committee to ensure tenants will be safe.
Comments from Dennis Maloney.
On the committee would be Doug Pederson (Twin City Properties) and one person of his choosing; College Station resident Susan Irza and one person of her choosing; and two representatives from the DASH (Decent Affordable Safe Housing) task force, which is affiliated with Habitat For Humanity. Planning & Development Services staff would facilitate the committee’s work.
Council members want a mechanism to ensure tenant safety. That includes but is not limited to working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, properly fitted doors and windows, and heating and cooling systems in proper operating condition.
