Those selected to propose changes to College Station’s city charter have received their marching orders. The city council didn’t oppose any of the recommendations made by City Secretary Sherry Mashburn, which included looking at how someone is recalled.

Suggestions were also made by the council. Dave Ruesink says some have asked him about the council receiving a salary.

Jana McMillan was one of two council members asking the charter require only two council members to add an item to an agenda instead of four.

There’s a question on when College Station voters would consider charter changes. Mashburn says if the Texas Legislature doesn’t change election law, the charter election would be held next May. If proposed changes are enacted, the charter election could be held this November.
