Crashes On Freeway Service Roads During Tuesday Morning’s Commute

College Station police and fire responded during the Tuesday morning commute to a pair of crashes on freeway service roads in College Station between Harvey Road and Southwest Parkway.

The first wreck, reported at 7:15 a.m., was off the southbound service road between Cavender’s and Allen Honda. A pickup truck wound up in Wolf Pen Creek. That led to the deployment of the fire department’s water rescue vehicle. Prior to arrival, the officer determined no one was inside what turned out to be an apparently abandoned vehicle. The service road was closed for three hours until the truck was pulled out of the creek.

While that was going on, another CSPD officer was sent to a three vehicle crash on the northbound freeway service road. The drivers exchanged information in the parking lot of the old Academy parking lot. CSPD reported there were no apparent injuries.

A pickup being pulled out of Wolf Pen Creek Tuesday morning at the southbound freeway service road in College Station, October 29 2019.
