CPS Says Nothing Suspicious About Accused Mom

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ State officials say a child welfare caseworker visited the home of two slain boys the day before police say their mother killed them.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said Wednesday that a caseworker made a routine visit Monday to the home of Elyse Marsyl Colon. San Antonio police say Colon fatally stabbed her children, ages 1 and 3, the next day.

“There was nothing that this worker saw that indicated that mom was going off the next day and murder these kids,” agency spokeswoman Mary Walker said.

The agency had investigated the family on several occasions since 2006.

Colon is being held on two counts of capital murder with bond set at $2 million.
