Cousineau Earns SEC Offensive Player of the Week Recognition

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M midfielder Janae Cousineau garnered SEC Offensive Player of the Week status for her efforts in the Aggies’ 4-0 win over Mississippi State on Senior Night, the league announced on Monday.

In her first match logging 90 minutes in a game this season as she works her way back from injury, Cousineau tallied three points in the victory with one goal and one assist.

The crafty veteran racked up her second assist of the season midway through the second half. The San Clemente, California native possessed the ball at the right elbow of the penalty box, drawing three defenders. She slipped the ball toKarlie Mueller, on her right, who punched a quick cross into the six-yard box where she found Haley Pounds for the one-timer.

Cousineau capped off the scoring in the match with her fourth goal of the season. She put a header in from eight yards out on a free kick service from Mueller.

On the season, Cousineau ranks third on the team with 10 points. For her career, she has 30 points with 12 goals and six assists.

It marks the second time an Aggie has earned Player of the Week recognition with Cousineau joining Pounds who garnered the award following the opening weekend.

Texas A&M returns to action on Friday as the Aggies host the Alabama Crimson Tide in a 7:00 pm contest at Ellis Field.
