ATLANTA- Texas A&M senior guard Courtney Walker was named to the WBCA All-Region 2 team on Wednesday. Walker has made the All-Region team in each of her last two seasons. The selection means that Walker is a nominee for the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team as well.
Walker is the Aggies’ all-time scoring leader, and was the leading scorer in the SEC this season. Walker had 14 games of 20+ points this season, and averaged 18.5 points per game.
The selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The 2016 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team will be announced on Saturday, April 2, during NCAA Women’s Final Four Super Saturday festivities in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
