Controversial UNT Election Results Due Monday

DENTON, Texas (AP) _ Results are expected from an election at the University of North Texas in Denton where students voted on whether the bylaws should be changed to allow same-sex couples to run for homecoming court.

The election results are expected Monday from last week’s student voting on the student government’s Web site: www.untsga.com.

The homecoming king and queen at UNT have always been a man and a woman. But, students could change that by deciding whether or not same-sex couples and/or gender-neutral couples could be crowned.

If the students approve it, the change would take effect next year.
