Construction Kickoff Held For Fun For All Playground

Construction is officially underway on the first phase of the Fun For All playground at College Station’s Central Park.

The program included announcements of major contributions for the second and third phases of the special needs park.

The president of the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, Patricia Gerling, says an anonymous private foundation in northwest Texas has offered a matching grant of $500,000 dollars.

Texas A&M women’s basketball coach Gary Blair, who told the audience that amount could be raised by Christmas, announced Gary Blair charities was contributing another $30,000 dollars to the park.

Other speakers included Rob Kimmel, representing the park’s contractor, and community member Kara Tillery, both who are parents of special needs children.

College Station mayor Karl Mooney and Bryan/College Station chamber of commerce president Glen Brewer also spoke.
