The burn ban is still in place for rural Brazos County residents.
Commissioners Tuesday upheld the ban after a presentation from Emergency Management Coordinator Chuck Frazier, who says that despite last week’s rain, conditions are dangerous.
He says they’ve had conversations with surrounding counties who have lifted their bans and already are encountering problems, and they also have the support of local fire departments to wait until there is a better pattern of rain.
Frazier says the 60 day order began July 30, and will expire Saturday, September 28, or at the commissioners’ discretion.
