Commission Objects to Proposed Alamo Changes

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ The Texas Historical Commission is objecting to updated plans for a new building at the Alamo.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas want a new building at the rear of the state-owned Alamo grounds for library use, rather than visitor amenities.

But Mark Wolfe, executive director of the historic commission, advised the DRT that it would be best if plans for the new building were for designed for the needs of the site and visitors.

The nonprofit DRT operates the Alamo under an agreement with the state and has been trying to raise $50 million for projects at the site over the next 15 years.
