A Bryan man on parole for multiple armed robberies is arrested for attempting to sell fake crack cocaine. It is the 36th time in 25 years that 42 year old Darrin Fletcher is in the Brazos County jail. But it’s the first booking since 2002, after he was sentenced to a total of 25 years for two armed robberies, three other robberies, and two drug convictions. Fletcher is also being held on a parole violation. According to the Bryan police arrest report, Fletcher cut up soap to look like crack to get some money to eat after he got kicked out of his mother’s house. The officer tested the material twice to make sure it was not crack. The police contact began when officers stopped Fletcher and a second man who were walking in the street instead of the sidewalk at 5:30 Tuesday morning.

A Bryan man’s 26th trip to the Brazos County jail in more than 19 years started when his car was pulled over due to arrest warrants in six misdemeanor criminal cases that took place before he went to prison six years ago for a felony drug conviction. According to the arrest report, after 37 year old Jose Miguel Garcia told a Bryan policeman he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day, a K-9 officer walked around the car. When the K-9 picked up a scent, the car was searched. The K-9 then picked up a scent on a cardboard box was found in the trunk. Garcia told officers there was marijuana in the box. Officers learned there was almost four and a half pounds of marijuana, which has an estimated street value of $8,000 dollars. Garcia is out of jail after posting a $5,000 dollar bond and paying a $525 dollar fine on a J-P charge. Garcia has yet to pay almost $1,600 dollars in fines from five cases in Bryan municipal court dating back to 2011.
