From the city of College Station:
The College Station City Council has appointed Bryan Woods as its new city manager. The announcement and unanimous vote occurred following the council’s executive session Thursday evening. His first day on the job will be Monday, Dec. 3.
About Bryan Woods
Woods has served as assistant city manager of New Braunfels, Texas, since 2017, with direct management of more than 170 employees and an annual budget of $85 million. His most-recent assignment included oversight of that city’s engineering, capital projects management, public works, planning and community development, real estate, airport operations and the city secretary’s office.
2017-present: Assistant City Manager, New Braunfels, Texas
2014-2017: Capital Programs Manager, New Braunfels, Texas
2007-2014: Vice President, Coyle-SDA, Inc., San Antonio
2005-2007: Construction Manager, Harris Construction, Inc., San Antonio
Woods holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering technology from University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s from University of Missouri-Truman School of Public Affairs. He also serves as a civil engineer corps officer in the United States Navy Reserve.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for my family and me, and I’m grateful to receive the city council’s confidence,” Woods said.
“Coming from a fast-growing community, I recognize the opportunities and challenges College Station faces. I’m looking forward to working with city staff to engage College Station’s many partners and to listen intently to our citizens. I can’t wait to get started.”
Mayor Karl Mooney said Woods is recognized as an outstanding city administrator.
“We believe Bryan will be an excellent fit for our city, enabling us to maintain the quality of life that College Station residents enjoy and expect,” Mayor Mooney said.
“The council and I also extend our sincere gratitude to Jeff Capps, who not only served as our interim city manager for seven months, but did so while shorthanded during the critical period of budget preparation.”
Woods will fill the vacancy created when Kelly Templin left March 30 to lead Texas A&M University System’s new RELLIS Campus. Templin served as College Station city manager since 2013.
