The City of College Station is planning its first Neighborhood Integrity Day and volunteers are still needed.
Code Enforcement Officer Raney Whitwell came up with the idea to get rid of code violations in older neighborhoods.
“Sometimes when you go to court, it’s a very long process and sometimes it may be ineffective, so this would be a quicker and more efficient way, and it is a way to connect with the residents,” said Whitwell.
This first Neighborhood Integrity Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 14th, will take place in the McCulloch subdivision, also known as the state streets across from the Lincoln Recreation Center.
“We do have large elderly population that really cannot help and that is one of the reasons that their property is needing to be revitalized,” says Whitwell.
Volunteers will remove debris, help with landscaping and other beautification tasks.
If you cannot volunteer, money and material donations are also being accepted.
