Equipment Failure Caused Tuesday’s College Station Power Outage

Wednesday update:

1,700 electric customers in College Station lost power Tuesday morning, and it was caught on camera video.

Interim Director of Electric Utilities Timothy Crabb says a piece of equipment failed at the electric substation behind Gander Mountain.

The outage was along the freeway from the north city limits to the Emerald Parkway exit.

UPDATE Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. College Station Utilities reports all power has been restored.  We’ll have details of the power outage once that information becomes available.

ORIGINAL STORY:

College Station Utilities is working on restoring power to homes and businesses from the area of Harvey Road and the freeway to the area of University Drive and the freeway.

An issue at a switch station is reportedly the problem.

The outage was reported Tuesday morning at 10:55.
