News release courtesy of College Station Police:
On Friday December 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm, services honoring the life and service of Burleson County Sergeant Adam Sowders will be held at Central Baptist Church (1991 FM 158, College Station, TX). At the conclusion of the service, a funeral procession will escort Sgt. Sowders from Central Baptist, through College Station, to the burial site in Somerville, TX.
The procession will begin at approximately 2:30 pm, leaving northbound on FM 158 to University Drive (FM 60), where it will turn westbound and continue through College Station to Somerville. It is estimated that over 100 emergency vehicles will be involved in the procession with officers controlling traffic at intersections to allow passage. Traffic on University Drive and cross streets along the route will be impacted for several hours as officers will be in place by 2:30 pm and it is estimated that traffic will be limited until approximately 4:30 pm.
It is also anticipated that citizens wishing to pay tribute to Sgt. Sowders will be along the route as well, and these factors have the potential to impact travel in and around the procession route during this time period.
