College Station to Offer Homebuyer’s Education Course

If you’re looking to buy a home, the City of College Station wants to help you get prepared.

Debbie Eller with Community Development says the city’s offering a home buyer’s education course that will teach methods for avoiding expensive mistakes.

Eller says they want potential home buyers to be ready, to know what their credit scores are, and to receive guidance if they have issues with mortgage qualification.

She says the course will cover the mortgage process, working with a real estate agent, shopping for a home, and also protecting the investment once a home is purchased.

Eller says it’s the Neighborworks America curriculum, taught by a Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs certified home buyer teacher, and when the course is complete, students will receive a certificate that says they are a mortgage-ready home buyer.

She says the fifteen dollar course will be every Tuesday evening in February from 6:00 to 7:30 at College Station Fire Station Number 6.
