College Station School Board Revisiting Rezoning Policy

While the College Station school district is not currently involved in adding campuses or changing boundaries, the school board this week started discussing any possible changes to its policy on campus populations.

The board’s newest member, Amanda Green, got no traction on her idea to add a grandfathering clause to CSISD’s “FC Local” attendance policy to allow students to finish the campus where they started.

Michael Wesson gave two reasons against Green’s idea. One is action a future board will have to take to accommodate a third high school. The other is in response if a charter school would close.

There was no disagreement about developing a longer timeline when rezoning is being considered.

And the board discussed other options to address overcrowding, including the use of portable buildings.
