College Station School Board Gets One Option To Rezone Elementary School Boundaries

College Station school district administrators presented to the school board, one option to change elementary school boundaries when River Bend elementary opens next August.

Students from six existing elementaries would be moved to River Bend, located at Rock Prairie and Holleman.

They are Creek View, Forest Ridge, Greens Prairie, Rock Prairie, South Knoll, Spring Creek, and Rock Prairie.

The specific number of students from each building to River Bend was not announced.

River Bend would start with an estimated first year enrollment of 438, which is 60 percent of the building’s capacity.

CSISD board members are also being asked to change the boundaries of three additional elementaries to address overcrowding.

An undisclosed number of students would move from Forest Ridge to either Greens Prairie or Spring Creek.

And another group would move from College Hills to Pebble Creek.

The only CSISD elementary school not affected by next year’s boundary changes would be Southwood Valley.

Administrators also proposed a grandfathering policy allowing this year’s third graders to stay at their current school next year.

The CSISD board will hear public comments Wednesday at noon and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the board meeting room.
