College Station School Board Extends The Superintendent’s Contract And Gets A First Day Recap

Business at this week’s College Station school board meeting included extending the contract of superintendent Clark Ealy through June of 2022. Doctor Ealy will receive a pay increase of one and a half percent, the same percentage as other non-teaching employees. And the new contract increases the district’s percentage of his TRS retirement contribution. There were no board comments prior to the unanimous vote at the end of the monthly meeting.

The superintendent’s recap of the first day of classes to the board included thanking a variety of people for opening Wellborn Middle School on time. The building was opened sooner than expected. That’s after the board was told six months ago construction delays resulted in getting special permission from the city to move in furnishings and the first day for a temporary occupancy permit was the Friday before the start of classes.

As of the second day of classes, headcount in CSISD was about one percent less than a year ago…which was a number matching budget expectations.
