College Station Police Arrests On Charges Of Identity Theft, Residential Burglary, And Filing A False Report

A College Station police officer making a traffic stop during the midnight hour Sunday for a defective headlight led to the driver being arrested on identity theft and drug charges. 31 year old Chad Latham of Bryan is accused of having 51 credit and debit cards, 14 drivers licenses, two passports, and 30 pieces of mail…including one social security card and personal information from a variety of financial institutions. According to the CSPD arrest report, the officer noticed inside the car, two large clear plastic boxes from the U.S. postal service that are used by mail carriers to deliver large amounts of mail. A search of the car to take inventory before it was towed, led to discovering several boxes of mail, along with what the officer believed to be heroin and the prescription drug commonly known as Propecia. Latham remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $56,000 dollars.

A College Station couple was arrested last Thursday for the burglary of a College Station home earlier this month. 19 year old Austin Stapleton of College Station told police, according to the arrest report, that while he was committing car burglaries he found a house key inside a vehicle that was parked outside a home. A week later, he and 20 Hailey Parker-Creech returned to the home and took among other things, an X-box, an I-pad, and hair styling tools. Stapleton was also arrested on a warrant from Montgomery County charging him with theft. At the time of Creech’s arrest, she was out on bond awaiting two trials in Brazos County on misdemeanor charges from earlier this year of interfering with public duties and marijuana possession. During a search of the apartment, a third occupant was arrested. 19 year old Keetin Garcia is out of jail after posting bonds on charges of drug possession and credit/debit card abuse. Parker-Creech posted bond after spending four days in jail. Stapleton remains in jail as of December 26.

At least ten College Station police officers responded last Saturday afternoon to what was reported as a stabbing, but turned into an arrest on a charge of filing a false report. 50 year old Charles Anthony Johnson was treated at the scene for injuries to his forehead, nose, and left hand that were the result of falling off a bicycle and hitting his head on a fence. According to the arrest report, Johnson initially said he was slashed with that he described as a very large butcher knife. Officers made the arrest after it was determined Johnson was retaliating against another man following an argument. Johnson was still in jail as of December 26th in lieu of a $2,000 dollar bond.
