College Station Medical Center began construction of their new Breast Diagnostic Center, which is scheduled to open by October.
The 3,526 square foot center will double the size of the current facility and offer patients diagnostic services including minimally invasive breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and bone density screening.
Vicky Bridier, Chief Operations Officer, said the new center will offer these services to patients in one convenient location.
“Prior to this, they would have to go back to their primary care physician’s’ office to have testing done or a general surgeon’s office to have testing done, and even to the main local facility or hospital to have additional services,” Bridier said. “So now everything will be offered in one location.”
The new facility will also improve the patient’s experience with reduced waiting times and same-day results for all screening and diagnostic mammograms.
“The patients will actually have the results after they’re done with the testing within 10 to 15 minutes before they leave the facility,” said Bridier. “It is also a good piece of mind for them when they’re leaving the facility to know what the results are, whether it is negative or positive and then to also know what is the next step that is available for them.”
The new facility will be located in the East Medical Office Building on the campus of College Station Medical Center.
