Gunfire during a drug deal in College Station almost two years ago has resulted in a plea agreement in Brazos County district court.
In a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office, 25 year old Keynaedrick Wheaton of College Station met two women in June 2022 to sell them drugs.
Instead, Wheaton stole drugs and money from the women.
Then he fired a shot, which went through the windshield of the vehicle the women were in.
Broken glass from the gunfire struck the passenger in the eye.
The driver crashed her vehicle at the entrance to the emergency room of College Station’s St. Joseph hospital.
Wheaton, who was sentenced to a total of 30 years, is headed to a state jail or prison for the third time. He was out on parole for a robbery that took place in 2016 at the time of the latest incident.

Keynaedrick Wheaton, 25, of College Station, Texas was sentenced to 30 years in prison on two counts of Aggravated Robbery and 20 years for the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
by a Felon.
On June 13 2022, College Station Police Department officers responded to the scene of an aggravated robbery. Two victims, who knew the defendant previously, met the defendant to purchase narcotics. During the course of this illegal activity the defendant pointed a gun at the two individuals, demanding their money and narcotics they had in their vehicle. The Defendant discharged the firearm and the round went through the victims’ car windshield causing one individual to be cut by the broken glass. The defendant was positively identified by the victims on scene.
A search warrant was executed at the defendants home. There police found the suspected firearm used in the robbery, along with the defendant’s wallet. Police also found multiple
firearms to include an AK-47 and ammunition for a 9mm and rifle were recovered. Identifying documentation for the defendant was recovered during the search warrant to prove possession of the firearms by a felon. Evidence of drug dealing was also recovered during the search warrant to include a drug leger and marijuana later tested by the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab.
The defendant has prior adjudications and convictions for two counts of theft as a juvenile, two convictions of burglary of a building (a state jail felony) for which he served 18
months in state jail, and criminal trespass (a misdemeanor) for which he served 180 days in Brazos County Jail. The defendant also has a prior prison sentence for robbery in 2017.

This defendant’s actions could have caused serious bodily injury or death. This sentence was appropriate given the facts and circumstances in this case.”
