The College Station ISD school board’s first report from administrators who are developing the budget for the 2024-25 school year focused on keeping costs down.
Chief financial officer Amy Drozd says looking to make ends meet is nothing new. During the last couple of years, administrators have reduced spending in some areas to compensate for inflation in other areas.
Because 85 percent of CSISD’s budget is in payroll and benefits, Drozd says they are reviewing staffing. And administrators are monitoring class sizes to determine the number of teachers for next year.
Board president Jeff Horak does not consider the CSISD budget being in a “doom and gloom” situation.
Board members were told not to expect an increase in state funding for public schools until the legislature approves vouchers.
