The College Station school district will have one person in charge of extracurricular activities at its high schools and middle schools.
Consolidated High School principal Buddy Reed was named the district’s first director of student activities by superintendent Eddie Coulson.
“As CSISD works to transition from one comprehensive high school to two, it is critical that the district support its students and staff who participate in band, orchestra, athletics, choir and all extra-curricular activities,” Coulson said. “More than ever, CSISD has a need for a coordinated effort in all of our programs in order to maximize opportunities for students and to align all extra-curricular programs.”
Reed, in his fourth year as principal at Consolidated, will be replaced on an interim basis by associate principal Gwen Elder. And Consol’s interim athletic director, Sue Betts, will return to her position as assistant a-d.
Coulson says the personnel changes take affect February 1st.
The superintendent says Tuesday was the last day to apply for head football coach and athletic coordinator at College Station High School. Dr. Coulson says approximately 80 have applied for the combination position.
