College Station intersections were blocked by three weekend crashes.

College Station police responded Saturday just after midnight to what turned out to be four vehicles that caught on fire at Harvey Mitchell and Texas. The main fire involved a southbound vehicle that ran a red light and struck an eastbound vehicle that had the green light. Those drivers were taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries. Two northbound vehicles that were waiting also had fire damage. The intersection was closed for seven hours.

Saturday afternoon near Consolidated High School, the eastbound lanes of Harvey Mitchell were closed for three hours following a pop up storm. That’s after an eastbound semi hit a patch of standing water, slid off the road near Welsh, hit a light pole and jackknifed. The light pole fell across the eastbound lanes. The driver was not injured, and the trailer did not lose its load of gravel.

Sunday morning, a SUV making a left turn out of the Barnes and Noble parking lot was struck by a northbound car on Texas that ran a red light. The SUV rolled to the passenger side. The driver, who was removed from the vehicle, was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Southbound traffic on Texas was blocked for almost one hour.
