The College Station city council has selected its next city manager.

The council unanimously approved the appointment of Kelly Templin, who has been the city manager in Seabrook for the last two years after serving as deputy city manager there from 2007-11.

Templin succeeds Frank Simpson, who died unexpectedly last April less than one month after he was promoted.

Like Simpson, Templin previously worked for College Station. Templin served as the director of development services from 2002-2004.

Also like Simpson, Templin graduated from A&M.

Templin says an employment agreement is still being developed and an official starting date has not been determined.

During the transition, Templin intends to come to College Station on a part time basis.
