College Station Council Votes 6-1 To Employ Search Firm For Next City Manager

The College Station city council voted 6-1 Thursday to hire a search firm to assist in the selection of a city manager.

Mayor Karl Mooney says the vote directed the city’s human resources director to negotiate a contract.

The mayor’s goal is to hire a manager in time for that person to attend the council’s budget workshops this August.

And Mooney says he is aware of some people who are interested in the job and some former managers who have inquired to share information with other possible candidates.

Councilman Bob Brick, who voted no, wanted the council to manage the search. Brick says that would be a more hands on approach for the council, possibly speed up the process, and possibly reduce the cost.
