College Station Council Receives Update On New Senior Center

As the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley gets closer to finding a new home, converting the building that’s owned by the city of College Station to a senior center could start as soon as this summer.

Erica Wozniak of the city manager’s office says design plans are 95 percent complete.

Thanks to a six figure gift to the parks and recreation department, the current offices will be turned into three multipurpose rooms, an arts and crafts room, a break room, and a catering kitchen. The building will also get a new air conditioning and heating system.

City manager Kelly Templin responded to John Nichols concern of having adequate parking.

Arts Council CEO Chris Dyer tells WTAW News they have what he calls “extremely exciting news coming shortly” about their new location.
