More than nine years ago, the College Station council against bitter opposition, annexed the Wellborn community.

Monday night, two council members who were part of that vote supported residents who were against changing land use regulations to allow a self-storage unit on Victoria, west of the Castlegate II subdivision.

Dennis Maloney and John Crompton, who were part of Monday night’s unanimous vote, also voted in favor of annexation in 2011.

Staff recommended against the request, while the planning and zoning commission recommended the land use change from Wellborn Estate residential to Wellborn Commercial by a 3-2 margin.

Newly elected councilmember Elizabeth Cunha voted for the land use change as a P&Z member, then voted against it at Monday night’s council meeting.
