College Station Council Approves Off Campus Regulations Of Rental Bicycles

As Texas A&M’s provider of rental bicycles increases its supply from 850 to more than 3,000, the College Station city council has approved new regulations when they are off-campus.

Aubrey Nettles of the city manager’s office says the ordinance requires OFO and anyone else who gets in the business…among other things…to set up a $5,000 dollar escrow account.

Councilman James Benham called on city staff to be working on similar regulations for electric scooters after seeing large numbers in Nashville, Tennessee. Nettles says electric scooters will not be allowed on the A&M campus.

The ordinance establishes home zones and geo fences where the bikes can be off campus.
