College Station Council Approves New Equipment At Two Parks

Business at the last College Station city council meeting included approving $538,000 dollars of new equipment for two parks.

Parks and recreation director David Schmitz says Gabbard Park will receive a full replacement of playground equipment, along with a shade structure, and new surfacing.

The north end of Thomas Park will be receiving new swings, new surfacing, and a shade structure over the existing playground unit.

The south end of Thomas Park is getting new playground equipment and surfacing.

Schmitz also explained why a more than 30 year old slide is being removed from the south end of Thomas Park.

The council did not hear from neighborhood residents, who in April called for replacing the now closed Thomas Park pool.
